一概には言えないが、一般的に、大学入学の難易度が下記の５段階に大別される。
(No set standards exist for the admissions, but generally
universities are grouped in the following 5 levells.)
1. Noncompetitive
2. Minimally Difficult
3. Moderately Difficult
4. Very Difficult
5. Most Difficult
TOEFLや、GRE 等の標準テストで、英語力が判断されたり、
高いSATの結果が要求されたりする。
その上に、中学高校での成績ランクが５％以上とか、
リーダーシップや、学校外活動も合否の要素にされる。
最低行基準として、先ず、TOEFLの５００点が欲しい。
(Standardized exams such as TOEFL, GRE, and SAT's
are required for admission to US universities and
graduate schools, but bear in mind also that high school
transcripts, records of leadership experience,
involvement in sports and so forth are important factors
for admissions. Keep these facts well in mind, but first
and foremost, try to achieve a 500 on the TOEFL.)
